About Acharya Narendra Deva University of Agriculture & Technology
Acharya Narendra Deva University of Agriculture & Technology (ANDUAT), Ayodhya is one of the leading agricultural universities of Northern India. The foundation stone of the university was laid on 15 January 1974 by former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, and the university officially started functioning on 10 October 1975. It was named after the renowned freedom fighter, socialist thinker, educationist and former BHU Vice-Chancellor Acharya Narendra Deva.
The university was established to strengthen agricultural education, research and extension services across Eastern Uttar Pradesh. Initially the university activities started in Faizabad (Ayodhya), and later the main campus was developed at Kumarganj, Ayodhya. Today it serves multiple agro-climatic zones of Eastern Uttar Pradesh and plays a major role in agricultural development throughout the region.
ANDUAT is recognized by ICAR, approved by UGC, and has received NAAC A++ Accreditation, making it one of the highest-rated agricultural universities in Uttar Pradesh. The university is spread across a large residential campus and provides modern facilities for education, research and farmer training.
The university offers undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programs through its constituent colleges including the College of Agriculture, College of Horticulture & Forestry, College of Fisheries, College of Community Science, College of Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry and Mahamaya College of Agricultural Engineering & Technology.
ANDUAT has contributed significantly to crop improvement, seed production, sustainable farming systems, horticultural development, livestock research and agricultural extension activities. The university regularly organizes Kisan Melas, farmer training programs, technology transfer initiatives and rural development activities across Uttar Pradesh.
The campus includes research farms, experimental fields, seed production units, veterinary facilities, hostels, libraries, advanced laboratories, training centers and extension education units. The university continues to play an important role in agricultural innovation, climate-resilient agriculture and farmer welfare programs.
